Hagiwara Kiln
Style Number: HGW-038
Yoshinori Hagiwara is a world renowned, fifth generation potter from Mashiko, Japan. Hagiwara’s work is quite particular as he uses clay and glaze materials gathered exclusively from Mashiko’s countryside, including a rare, preserved white clay and glaze which he inherited as the fifth potter in his family’s line.
Hagiwara’s "kaki" persimmon-colored glaze is a classic example of one of Mashiko's signature hues. His most recent ceramics have broadened beyond this well-known hue, and he has worked with yellow kaki, blue nuka, and namijiro glazes as well.
In 2014, Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry designated Hagiwara as a "Traditional Craftsman."
