This is a very special, limited edition version of our classic low top sneakers. We've set aside 30 pairs of our Natural Duck Canvas Low Tops and dyed them in 100% natural plant indigo.
The unusual process of dyeing an already-made pair of sneakers in natural plant indigo results in some really beautiful irregularities. The white canvas uppers and the cotton laces take the dye in a very even way; while the khaki natural rubber and the painted brass eyelets result in an unpredictable textured effect. Each shoe is dipped six times to achieve a deep, saturated color.
PLEASE NOTE: These sneakers are dyed with natural indigo in a way that results in an irregular and "imperfect" product. They may have unexpected markings on the soles, or areas where the indigo dye is darker/lighter than the rest of the shoe. The indigo dye may wear off of the rubber over time. This is all part of the beauty of this unique process, and we hope you embrace it. If you're unsure or nervous about this, please don't order a pair. Because these sneakers are dyed to order, we cannot accept returns or exchanges. Please read this page carefully and don't hesitate to contact us if you have questions about sizing.
ONE MORE NOTE: These sneakers have been washed after dyeing in order to remove as much excess indigo as possible, but they are still susceptible to staining other materials -- especially your socks. These should only be worn with dark socks. If you wear them with light colored socks, they will turn your socks blue, and we cannot accept responsibility for this.

The Hill-Side sneakers are responsibly manufactured by well-paid, highly skilled craftspeople in a beautiful, 140-year old factory in western Japan. They're sewn and assembled completely by hand, and are produced using a traditional vulcanization process that employs natural rubber that the factory processes in-house.
We visit the factory twice a year for on-site design and development meetings, and to inspect the production of our products.
SIZING NOTE: These shoes run about a half-size larger than standard shoe sizes. We recommend ordering 1/2 size smaller than your normal sneaker size (Nike, Adidas, Vans, for example). If you are in-between sizes, we recommend rounding down to the nearest whole size. If you have a wider foot, we recommend ordering your normal size.
